THAILAND: Malay-Muslim Insurgency Gaining Ground

By Marwaan Macan-Markar BANGKOK, Aug 2 (IPS) - Their identities may still be a mystery, but suspected Malay-Muslim militants in southern Thailand are removing any doubts about what they have in mind when they come calling. They want to prove that the Thai government is losing control of that troubled region, say analysts. Tuesday night saw the latest of well-coordinated bombing and arson sprees that the assailants have mounted in the provinces of Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani, which lie along the Malaysian border. By Wednesday afternoon, the Thai media were reporting that close to 130 places had been attacked by small bombs and been set on fire. They included a railway station, karaoke bars and homes of police and government officials. These attacks follow a similar wave of bombs that exploded across the south in mid-June and were described, at the time, as an unprecedented assault in a conflict that erupted in that predominantly Malay-Muslim region in January 2004. Over a three-day period in June, some 70 small bombs were detonated at police stations, road checkpoints and government offices. ''Terrorism is not about killing people; it is about creating insecurity,'' Zachary Abuza, an American academic specialising in terrorism in South-east Asia, told IPS. ''These attacks amplify their (the militants') capacity to create fear and embarrass the government.'' The targets chosen this week, in particular the homes of police and government officials, show that the militants ''have good intelligence,'' he added. ''The government does not seem to have a grip on the situation. The violence is getting more out of control.'' Such a view is not what the government of predominantly Buddhist Thailand has been trying to project as it conjures up scenarios that it has the situation under control in the area that is home to the country's largest minority, the Malay-Muslims. In July, Bangkok spoke highly of a harsh emergency decree serving the state well to crackdown on suspected Malay-Muslim militants. Officials went on record saying that the one-year-old decree, which was extended last month, had enabled security forces and the police to make headway about understanding the insurgency, identifying the assailants, knowing their training structure and having sufficient intelligence to know when they would strike. To support that view, statistics were reeled out. Between July 2005 and July 2006, the police in the south had identified 1,264 Malay-Muslims suspected of being linked to the violence, of which 598 had been arrested, 664 were being sought for questioning and two had been freed due to a clean record. This comes after a revelation made in April by Gen. Sonthi Boonyaratglin, Thailand's army chief, that officials in the south had been maintaining 'blacklists' of people in the area with possible ties to the violence. One Thai newspaper that saw the list said that in one list with 300 names, there were people who had ''been arrested and killed, many under questionable circumstances.'' Three months after the emergency decree was enforced, giving security forced wide, unchecked powers, there were as many as 4,000 names on the blacklists compiled for Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala. But attacks like the one this week, as also a similar one in June, are punching holes in the image of being in control that Bangkok has tried to sustain. ''The government claims that things are under control and that the emergency decree has been working efficiently are in question,'' Surin Pitsuwan, a former Thai foreign minister and a member of the country's Muslim minority, said in an interview.. ''The message is that the militants are still around, that they can move across the region and that they have popular support. Otherwise, they cannot carry out such attacks.'' Some Thai analysts, in fact, are pointing to a possible pattern emerging in the current cycle of violence, which has left over 1,300 people dead in the past two-and-a-half years and which has, as a predominant feature, still-to-be-identified assailants and their still undeclared political goals. ''There have been three types of attacks: the first are ones that the militants have initiated and the second are retaliatory strikes to certain acts of the government,'' Sunai Phasuk, Thai researcher for Human Rights Watch, the global rights lobby, told IPS. ''The third are retaliatory attacks to undermine government's claims about the headway it is making against the militants.'' The violence since 2004 comes after a relative lull in a region that has seen conflicts during previous decades when militants from Malay-Muslim rebel groups launched separatist struggles against the more powerful Thai military. Muslims make up 80 percent of the population in the three southern provinces - once part of the defunct Muslim kingdom of Pattani that was annexed by Siam, as Thailand was known in 1902. Malay-Muslim resentment to Bangkok's policies range from political and cultural issues to economic ones - the Malay-Muslims complain of discrimination against their religion and language and economic marginalisation. But attempts by civil society groups and academics to address these issues through an independent National Reconciliation Commission have not made headway. They have been pushed aside for a security solution that drives the government's approach. Currently, the three provinces are under the guard of 30,000 heavily armed troops, in addition to 10,000 police officers and some 1,000 psychological warfare operatives. In addition to manning checkpoints and surveying the hilly terrain in armoured vehicles, they are also infiltrating Muslim villages to detect signs of militant activity. ''There are more mobile units on the ground. Some of the forces are sleeping in the villages,'' Panitan Wattanayagorn, a national security expert at Bangkok's Chulalongkorn University, told IPS. ''But there is a need for a new military strategy in the south.'' A review of the prevailing security policies are needed, he conceded, because ''they have not been able to come up with a good strategy to stop the daily incidents. It is worrying. The militants have not been deterred by the security forces.'' (END/2006)

WHY JEWS ARE INTELLIGENT

Written by Dr. Stephen Carr Leon Brief translation from Malay text

Since I spent about 3 year in Israel for internship in few hospital there, It came to my mind about doing thesis/research of "Why the Jews are Intelligent?" It goes without denial that Jews are ahead in all aspect of life such as engineering, music, science and most obvious in business where nearly 70% of world trade/business are held by the Jews such as cosmetic, fashion, food, arms, hotels and film industries (Hollywood and others).

During the 2nd year, in December 1980, and I was about to go back to California, this idea came to me and I was wandering why God gave this gift/ability to them, is this a coincidence or is it man-made that could be produced like the goods from a factory. My thesis took about 8 years to gather all the information as accurately as possible, like the food intake, culture, religion, initial preparation of pregnancy and etc and I would compare them with other races.

Let's start with initial preparation of pregnancy. In Israel, the first thing I noticed is that the pregnant mother would always sing and play piano and would always try to solve mathematical problems together with the husband, and I was very surprised to see the mother always carry math books and sometimes I would help her to solve some problems, I would asked, "Is this for your child in the womb?" she would answer "Yes to train the child still in the womb so that it would be a genius later on". She would solve the problem without let-up until the child is born.

Another thing I noticed, is about the food, she loved to eat almonds and dates with milk, for lunch she would take bread and fish without the head, salad mixed with almonds and other nuts, they believed fish is good for the development of brain and the fish's head is bad for the brain. And also it is like the culture of the Jews for pregnant mothers to take cod liver oil.

When I was invited for dinner, I always noticed that they always like to eat fish (flesh and fillet) and no meat, according to their belief, meat and fish together will not give any benefit to our body. Salad and nuts is a must, especially almonds.

They would always eat fruits first before the main meal. Their belief if you eat the main meal first (like bread or rice) then fruits, this will make us feel sleepy and difficult to understand any lesson you learn in school.

In Israel, smoking is a taboo, if you are their guest, don't smoke in their house, they would politely ask you to go out for a smoke. According to scientist in university of Israel, nicotine would destroy the main cell in our brain and will affect the genes and DNA, resulting in generation of moron or defective brain. So all those smokers, please take note (Ironically, the biggest producer of cigarettes is... you know who.. make your own guess).

The food intake for the child is always under the guidance of the parent, first, the fruits with almonds, followed by cod liver oil. In my assessment, the Jewish child, most of them knew 3 languages, ie Hebrew, Arabic and English, since childhood they would be train in playing piano and violin, it is a must. Accordingly, it is believed that this practice will increase the IQ of the child and will make him a genius. And according to Jewish scientist, the vibration of music would stimulate the brain and that is why there are lots of geniuses among the Jews...

Since grade 1 to 6, they would be taught business mathematic and science subjects would be their first preference. For comparison I could see the children in California, their IQ is about 6 years back. And Jewish children were also involved in athletics such as archery, shooting and running, accordingly it is believed that archery and shooting would make the brain more focus on decision and precision.

In high school, students are more inclined to study science, they would create products, indulged in all sorts of projects , although some looks very funny or useless, but all attention is given seriously especially if it is armaments, medicine or engineering, the idea will be introduced in higher institute in polytechnics or universities.

Business faculty will be given more preference, in the last year of university, the students in business would be given a project and practically they can only pass if their group (about 10 in a group) can make profit of USD1 million. Don't be surprised, this is the reality and that is why half of the business in the world is held by the Jews, who design the latest levis, it is being designed in the Israel university by the faculty of business and fashion.

Have you seen them how they prayed, they always shake their heads, accordingly they believed this action will stimulate and provide more oxygen to the brain, same thing with Islam where you need to bow down your head. Look at the Japanese, they always bow down their heads as their culture, lots of them are smart, they love sushi (fresh fish), is this a coincidence?

In New York, the commercial/trading center for the Jews are based in New York, catering for the Jews only, if they had any beneficial idea, their committee will give free interest loan and will make sure the business prosper. Due to this, starbuck, dell computer, cocacola, DKNY, oracle, levis, dunkin donut , Hollywood films and hundreds other businesses were under their sponsorship. Jewish graduates from faculty of medicine in new york were encouraged to register with them and allowed to practice privately with this free interest loan, now I knew why most hospital in new york and California always lack of specialist doctors.

Smoking will lead to generations of moron. During my visit to Singapore in 2005, made me surprised to see smokers are regarded as an outcast and the price of a pack of cigarettes is about USD 7, like in Israel it is a taboo and their form of government is similar to the Israelis. And that is the reason why most of their universities are of high standard, even though Singapore is only as big as Manhattan.

Look at Indonesia, everywhere people are smoking, and price of a pack of cigarette is very cheap only USD0.70 cts. and the results with millions of people, you can count the number of universities, what product they produced that can be proud of, technology.. never... can they speak other than their own language, why it is so difficult for them to master English language for example, all this is due to smoking, think for yourself.

In my thesis, I do not touch in respect of religion or race, why the Jews are so arrogant that they were being chased around since the time of Paraoh until Hitler, for me it is about politic and survival, the bottom line is, could we produce intelligent generations just like the Jews. The answer could be in the affirmative that needs change in our daily habits of eating, parenting and I guess within 3 generations, it could be achieved. This I could observe in my grandson, for example at the age of 9 he could write a 5-page essay on "Why I love tomato" May all of us be in peace and succeeded in producing a future generations of genius for the betterment of humankind no matter who you are.

Why Jews are so Powerful

There are only 14 million Jews in the world; seven million in the Americas , five million in Asia, two million in Europe and 100,000 in Africa . For every single Jew in the world there are 100 Muslims. Yet, Jews are more than a hundred times more powerful than all the Muslims put together. Ever wondered why ? Read more at Aku Sempoi blogspot

Rooibos herb (Aspalathus linearis)

Rooibos tea originates from the leaves and stems of the indigenous South African plant Aspalathus linearis. Rooibos tea is also known as Red-Bush and grows on high mountain ranges. Rooibos has gained much attention for clinical purposes in the case of nervous tension, allergies, dermatitis, and various digestive problems. Recently, antioxidant activity has also been attributed to the tea on the basis of its flavonoid content.

Constituents of Rooibos herb Rooibos contains different bioactive phenolic compounds such as dihydrochalcones, flavonols, flavanones, flavones, and flavanols. The main flavonoids in rooibos are dihydrochalcone aspalthin, rutin, quercetin, luteolin, nothofagin, and orientin. Another flavonoid is rooibos herb is chrysoeriol (luteolin 3′-methyl ether). This flavonoid is known for antioxidant, antiinflammatory, antitumor, antimicrobial, and antiviral properties.

What does the research say about Rooibos herb? Rooibos tea is a powerful antioxidant, has anti-HIV activity, may protect brain cells from damage by toxins, and additionally has anti-tumor potential. Rooibos tea administration prevents age-related accumulation of lipid peroxides in several regions of rat brain. Dr. Sahelian says: I have rooibos tea on my kitchen counter, along with a dozen or so different teas, and I drink a cup once in a while. I like the pleasant taste and I sweeten it with the natural no calorie sweetener Stevia-Clear-Liquid.

Green Tea

For many generations in India, China and Japan, green tea has been regarded to contain health-promoting components. Much research has been made on the health effects of green tea and its prevention of and stopping the progressing of a variety of illnesses. Only 20% of the tea consumed worldwide is green tea. The remainder is black, yet many polyphenols in green tea contain more antioxidant activity than the well-known Vitamin C and Vitamin E. The antioxidants found in green tea may prevent and reduce severe cases of arthritis and cancers.

Vitamin b17

Apricot Seeds

G. Edward Griffin marshals the evidence that cancer is a deficiency disease – like scurvy or pellagra – aggravated by the lack of an essential food compound in modern man’s diet. That substance is vitamin B17. In its purified form developed for cancer therapy, it is known as Laetrile.

This story is not approved by orthodox medicine. The FDA, the AMA, and The American Cancer Society have labeled it fraud and quackery. Yet the evidence is clear that here, at last, is the final answer to the cancer riddle.

Why has orthodox medicine waged war against this non-drug approach? The author contends that the answer is to be found, not in science, but in politics – and is based upon the hidden economic and power agenda of those who dominate the medical establishment.

With billions of dollars spent each year on research, with other billions taken in on the sale of cancer-related drugs, and with fund-raising at an all-time high, there are now more people making a living from cancer than dying from it. If the solution should be found in a simple vitamin, this gigantic industry could be wiped out over night. The result is that the politics of cancer therapy is more complicated than thescience.

Acai Berry

Acai Berry is one of the few foods in the world classified as a superfood. To achieve the “Superfoods” classification a food is required to provide extraordinary benefits beyond providing calories and nutrition. Acai Berry was elevated to superfood. This berry comes from the Amazon rainforest of Brazil and has long been used by natives of that country for its incredible health-giving properties. It has only been recently that America has discovered this wonder food and realized just how great its properties are.

The list of health giving properties attributed to the acai berry sounds almost too good to be true. According to experts, this berry can provide better cardiovascular health, fight disease, boost libido, enable weight loss, and increase energy among other things. In fact, thanks to the berries incredible nutritional profile, all of these things really are possible.

Pure Acai Berry is the perfect supplement to help induce health, right? But did you also know that the same nutrients that can make you feel healthier can also help promote beauty? Not only does a health person tend to look more attractive than someone..

Before widespread recognition of the acaiberries, wine and blueberries were touted as great ways to get plenty of antioxidants. However, acai berry has more than ten times the levels of antioxidants as these other foods and thus, more than ten times the power to prevent the signs of aging and other health problems!

Acai Berry tough time constraints, anything you can do to improve your health, diet and energy with little effort is appreciated. Add acai berry supplements to your daily diet now. Acai Berry is arguably the world’s most nutritious and special foods.

The Power of Words

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.

The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

This story teaches two lessons:

1. There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.

2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes

to kill them.

Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path. The power of words... it is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times. Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another.

I am a Muslim but Only by Name

I am a Muslim, but only by name When it comes to practising, what a shame! I go to friends and relatives in suit and tie It's alright if I occasionally lie Yes I practise, BUT when it suits me Or more to the point, when it pleases society. If I show my ankles, they'll point and laugh They'll think it's too short and reckon I'm daft. If I trim my moustache and grow the beard They'll reckon I'm a fanatic or something weird. If I wear the sunnah I'll get great reward But the Kuffaar will look down on me, that I can't afford. Yes I'm a Muslim, but only by name I make excuses which I admit are rather lame. Yes I'm a sane man and I'm on the right track Who am I kidding, I feel like a right jack! To hide my inferiority complex I protest it's unimportant Though my heart screams to tell me I'm a blatant fraudulent The best thing is no-one can hear what's going on inside People think I've got it made and with my life I'm satisfied. But I'm afraid this is a fable and it's a pure deception I have no peace of mind but this I daren't even mention. If I remain ignorant it's OK, 'cos then I don't have to practise Yes I'm conniving and these are baseless evil tactics. But I read the Kalima and I think I have Imaan I can't help my attitude I was placed in a Kufrstaan. Yes I'm a Muslim but only by name And with my precious life I'm playing a foolish disastrous game!

Come and See What Has Happened to Us Yunus Emre!

We have turned to narrow straits in narrow thinking; In this age we eat our brains. Our passion is executed by firing squads And we worship material as a savior In the name of civilization.

As we have begun to forget our innerselves, The thoughts that color our feelings Turned us into stones; Come and see what has happened!

If your 'nefes' spread to our world, It would heal the blinded eye of passion. If your voice found a way to enter us, Our gratitude for being human Would be a crown upon our heads.

In inanimate souls the bells cry For the name of science. It emptied us. Come and see what has happened!

What if I climbed the summits; To ask which horizons showed Yunus Emre The branches of the trees of Paradise on the Paradise of Earth? What if I enter every day with news of friendship? What if I would not think every day as a new trap?

Now friendship, independence. For the sake of humanity, groups of robots Turned our passion into winter. Come and see what has happened!

"Precious Gift"

Once upon a time, when God had finished making the world, he wanted to leave behind a piece of His own divinity, a spark of His essence, a promise to man of what he could become, with effort. He looked for a place to hide this precious gift because, He explained, what man could find too easily would never be valued by him.

"Then you must hide this gift on the highest mountain peak on earth," said one of his counselors.

God shook His head, "No, for man is an adventuresome creature and he will soon enough learn to climb the highest mountain peaks."

"Hide it then, O Great One, in the depths of the earth."

"I think not," said God. "for man will one day discover that he can dig into the deepest parts of the earth."

"In the middle of the ocean then, Master?"

acehbaiturrahman

God shook His head. "I've given man a brain, you see, and one day he'll learn to build ships and cross the mightiest oceans."

"Where then, Master?" cried His counselors.

God smiled, "I'll hide it where every man and woman will be able to find it if they look sincerely and deeply enough. I'll hide it in their heart."

The Progress of Man

First he appeared in the realm inanimate; Thence came into the world of plants and lived The plant-life many a year, nor called to mind What he had been; then took the onward way
To animal existence, and once more Remembers naught of what life vegetive, Save when he feels himself moved with desire
tengku_ryo11Towards it in the season of sweet flowers, As babes that seek the breast and know not why. Again the wise Creator whom thou knowest Uplifted him from animality
To Man's estate; and so from realm to realm Advancing, he became intelligent, Cunning and keen of wit, as he is now. No memory of his past abides with him, And from his present soul he shall be changes. Though he is fallen asleep, God will not leave him In this forgetfulness. Awakened, he Will laugh to think what troublous dreams he had. And wonder how his happy state of being He could forget, and not perceive that all Those pains and sorrows were the effect of sleep And guile and vain illusion. So this world Seems lasting, though 'tis but the sleepers' dream; Who, when the appointed Day shall dawn, escapes From dark imaginings that haunted him, And turns with laughter on his phantom griefs When he beholds his everlasting home.

baju yang layu

baju yang layu di simpan beku

dikurung di dalam potret dan buku

tatkala rindu baju Melayu di lihat hanya sekadar pengubat rindu

baju yang layu di simpan di ceruk

sudah lama tertutup semakin buruk

Suatu hari tatkala baju Melayu hilang di bumi

Tiada guna menyesali diri

Barulah sedar baju Melayu sudah tiada

Maka, hidup melata…

My First Ladder

I remember it was black and white

In a small room next to the kitchen

My mom lay down on a spring bed

The bed was besides a window

It was black and white

The dark room my mom lay down

on a bed besides the window

I cannot remember how old was I

I cannot remember how tall was I

It was all black and white

My feet were small

As small as my palm now

My black and white feet climbed on

my mom as she was half asleep

My black and white feet stepped on her back

I placed my hand on the wall then

on the window, the glass louvered window

The black and white glass louvered window

It was a joy

It was black and white

In a dark room my mom felt asleep

I cannot wait to climb my first ladder

I cannot wait to feel to be on the top

The joy of climbing I cannot describe

PANNNGGGG!!!!!!!!!

I fell down half way

Broke all the glasses I climbed

Dark liquid oozing out my tiny feets

I did not cry but look

at the black and white glass louvered window

that I had yet to climb.
